Heavy Duty Single Articulating Gas Mechanism Monitor Arm
Overview
The HYDRA1HDB is a heavy-duty single articulating gas mechanism monitor arm built for larger and heavier displays that standard arms cannot support. Its sealed nitrogen gas mechanism provides effortless one-finger repositioning — raise, lower, tilt, or swing your monitor and it holds exactly where you leave it, with no re-tensioning required over time. The clamp mounts entirely from above the desk, keeping installation straightforward for corner desks, wall-adjacent setups, and single-person installs. A 180° rotation stop prevents the arm from swinging into adjacent monitors, partitions, or walls — a practical feature for multi-monitor environments and tight workspaces. Compatible with flat and curved monitors from 17″ to 35″ and up to 15 kg.
Key Features
- Clamp — On Side of Desk
- Grommet — Through a Hole in Desk Top
Feature Detail
Gas Mechanism Arm
A gas hydraulic arm uses a sealed nitrogen gas cylinder as a precision counterbalance — the same core technology found in medical examination tables, aerospace hatches, and premium automotive hoods. The result is one-finger repositioning with virtually no resistance: raise, lower, tilt, or swing your monitor and it holds exactly where you leave it. Once set up for your display, the cylinder requires zero maintenance — no re-tensioning, no adjustments, no change in feel over time. It’s the right choice for users who reposition frequently, share a workstation, or simply want a premium adjustment experience that’s completely effortless.
180° Rotation Stop
The arm includes a built-in mechanical rotation stop that limits horizontal swing to 180° — preventing the arm from travelling past a set boundary and striking an adjacent monitor, partition, or wall. This is a practical feature for multi-monitor workstations where the gap between displays is narrow, or for desks positioned close to a wall where an unrestricted arm would make contact during repositioning. The stop is integrated directly into the arm mechanism, requiring no additional hardware or adjustment. It provides a defined range of motion without limiting everyday usability, while protecting both the equipment and the workspace from accidental impact.
Top-Mount Install
The clamp is designed to mount entirely from above the desk — no crouching, no moving equipment, no reaching blindly under your workspace to tighten bolts. The clamp is engineered so that every connection point, including final tensioning, is accessible from the top. That makes it a practical choice for corner desks, wall-adjacent setups, and anyone with limited mobility who needs full access to the mount without getting under the desk. It also means the entire installation can be completed by one person, without a second set of hands to manage anything underneath.
Quick-Release Plate (with thumbscrew)
The included VESA compatible quick-release plate locks securely onto the arm and detaches with a single motion — no tools, no loose hardware. The plate uses a thumbscrew mechanism that holds your monitor during use but releases when you need to move it without tools. That makes it a practical solution for shared workstations, multi-monitor configurations, or any setup where screens need to relocate frequently. It also simplifies the process of swapping monitors entirely — detach, swap, and reattach without having to readjust the arm. The plate is designed to work without interfering with the arm's cable routing, so cables can be unplugged and kept nearby during a swap and reconnected immediately on reattachment.
Two Mounting Options
This mount ships with both a desk clamp and a grommet base included — no choosing at checkout, no separate accessory purchases. The desk clamp accommodates surfaces from 10 to 45 mm thick and installs without any modification to your desk, making it the straightforward choice for most setups. The grommet base passes through an existing desk hole, eliminating the clamp profile entirely for a flush, low-profile installation that keeps the focus on the monitor rather than the mount. Having both options in the box means the right fit for your desk is already accounted for, regardless of your workspace configuration.
